THANK YOU to all who were able to come out last night, and meet the All Ohio Team! It was such a great opportunity for Dawn, Ellen and Maggie to get to know some of the wonderful volunteers that make up our local group.
We would like to highlight the Triple Triathlon Challenge teammates who knocked out their third and final triathlon of the Spring/Summer season over the weekend (July 27th, 2014): Challenge New Albany!
So wait – what was the Triple Triathlon Challenge? It included the Subway Fresh Fit Sprint Triathlon, Tri Fit Challenge, and the New Albany Olympic Triathlon.
Special congratulations to teammates: Kelly Jackson, James Palmer, Brent Emmons, John Lowry, Samantha Hemmelgarn, Rhonda Hillis, Christopher Wheaton, Christa McCabe, Paul Curtin, and Hailey Dunn. You’ve all gone above and beyound this season for the mission, and we can’t thank you enough.
A HUGE thank you to our AMAZING Coach Robin Muskopf! Trust us when we say, this small woman has a HUGE pressence on event day. From her green coach jersey, down to her green knee high socks – you can’t miss her on the sidelines cheering on our teammates as they crushed their race. (IF ANYONE HAS A PHOTO OF HER FROM EVENT DAY, PLEASE SHARE!)
Last, but not least – a special thank you to Triathlon Captain Paul Curtin for providing us with encouragement and support throughout the season. He himself earned FIRST in his age group at CNA, with a time of 2:41:27.061!
We would like to highlight teammate and honored hero Jason Pullins this week. If you haven’t seen him at training or heard his story – please checkout the following video from Columbus Marathon’s Inspiration Dinner in 2012: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DfL-3kyjYE
What’s his drive this year? “Today marks 19 years since I was diagnosed with cancer. This day is a reminder of how fortunate I am to be alive. I have heard stories and met people, a baby who lost her life just weeks before her second birthday, a boy who is fighting for his life, despite complications and infections due to his cancer, a mother who was in remission, had it beat, and then was told of a reoccurrence, and all of this just within the last month. With this in mind, I am going to embark on a journey toward the 20th year since my diagnosis. Over the next year I am going to train for and complete Ironman Wisconsin and raise $20,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
People who workout with me and have trained with me know that I like to have a theme song for my endeavors. I have picked this one because it describes the anger and sadness I feel when I meet these patients and hear their stories….we are going to blow this up, full of rage, yet completely poised, “CALM LIKE A BOMB”, please consider joining me in this journey, not for me, but to honor the survivors, and remember the inspirers.”
